After seven years at RONA, Catherine Laporte, recently promoted to Chief Digital and Marketing Officer, will make her first official public appearance in this new role at the Sommet des chefs du marketing on November 5 at Espace Flex. She will take part in the CMO panel, a round-table discussion featuring perspectives from Marc Dicko, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at L’Oréal, and Imen Zitouni, Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer at Intact. They will explore the transformations redefining the role of marketing in the organizations of today.
With over 17 years’ experience in marketing, and with expertise in retail, Catherine previously held the position of Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Customer Experience. In her new role, she looks at several key issues shaping the future of marketing and reflects on the integration of artificial intelligence as a tactical tool in an evolving digital environment, the complexity of the media mix in the post-traditional television era, and the importance of adopting an experimental, data-driven and collaborative approach. In her view, this evolution requires great agility and the ability to adapt continuously to new consumer habits.
Catherine also asks what the marketer of tomorrow might look like. Although there are no answers yet, she notes a rise in digital skills, a better understanding of consumer behaviour and a greater ability to collaborate with different corporate functions. She believes that closer ties between CMOs, CFOs and CEOs are essential if marketing is to stop being perceived as a cost centre and instead be recognized as a genuine driver of strategic growth.
Catherine’s participation in the Sommet is part of this dynamic of questioning and evolution. Alongside her peers, she aims to provide a platform for exchange and reflection, to better understand today’s marketing challenges and to equip leaders to face a transforming future.
